National Family Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) Workforce Education on Abuse of Older People Project

EAAA has been awarded a tender to develop a digital learning app focused on family, domestic and sexual violence against older people in Australia. The app will cover topics related to Recognition, Prevention, Response, and Recovery and is designed primarily for workers and professionals who interact with older people living in the community.

In this round of consultation, we want to hear from

  • Health workers (e.g. GPs, Nurses, Community-based nurses, Ambulance staff, RFDS)
  • In-home care providers
  • Family, domestic and sexual violence support workers
  • Social workers
  • Allied health professionals
  • NDIS providers
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers
  • Welfare agency workers
  • LGBTQIA+ support services
  • CALD support services

People experiencing elder abuse often disclose or seek help from third parties such as carers, professionals and other trusted individuals. To ensure the educational materials are fit for purpose we want to know:

  • How can frontline workers be empowered to support older people experiencing abuse?
  • As a frontline worker, what specific knowledge or skills would you like to have?

We’re seeking advice through focus groups to ensure the app and its content meet workers' needs. We also want to understand the experience of workers interacting with older people who may be experiencing abuse.

Visit the Humanitix website to find a session near you and register your details.

You will receive an email

  • when your expression of interest has been received
  • when your registration has been confirmed or
  • if the session is full, a notification that you’ve been placed on a waitlist.
