Lunch and Learn: COTA Tasmania share insights on their LGBTIQ+ project

We’re excited to be re-launching our Lunch and Learn webinars in December. These webinars have been very popular and successful in the past, giving our members the opportunity to showcase their work or a particular topic of interest.

Join us for Session 1 on Thursday December 12 at 12:30pm AEDT. Our EO Bev Lange will be moderating this session which will also include time for questions.

We’ll be hearing from Julie Andersson from COTA Tasmania who will share insights from their project Raising Tasmanian LGBTIQ+ People’s Awareness of Elder Abuse.

COTA Tasmania’s innovative project will bring together LGBTIQ+ community members to:

  • co-design elder abuse awareness messages tailored to the community
  • test and refine these messages and how they’re delivered to ensure the greatest impact
  • engage with Lifelong Respect Community of Practice (CoP) referral partners about integrating these messages into existing resources or creating new community-specific materials.

During the session, Julie will explore:

  • the importance of addressing elder abuse in LGBTIQ+ communities
  • successes and challenges of the co-design process
  • a first look at the drafted resources and their potential impact
  • plans for dissemination and engagement.

With over 35 years of experience spanning community organisations, government roles and international work in Sweden, Julie has a wealth of experience in ageing and inclusion. Holding a Master of Public Sector Management, she specialises in community development, advocacy and co-design, always championing the voices of lived experience.

Register and be part of this important discussion!
