Launch of the National Plan to Respond to the Abuse of Older Australians

On Wednesday 19 March the Co-Chair of Elder Abuse Action Australia, Diedre Timms, spoke at the launch by Attorney General Hon Christian Porter MP of the National Plan to Respond to the Abuse of Older Australians

Diedre, thanked and commended the Attorney General for the initiative to develop the first National Plan and noted the engagement across Commonwealth, State and Territory governments for the elimination of the abuse of older Australians.

The elimination of the abuse of older Australians will require bipartisan support and the support of us all. Diedre noted, ”We will need to change minds and attitudes, we will need to address ageism wherever it occurs, we will all need to act and to stand up.”

Survey

The Co-Chairs of Elder Abuse Action Australia (EAAA), Russell Westacott and Diedre Timms, invite you to participate in a stakeholder survey to determine the feasibility of a Knowledge Hub on elder abuse.

The main purpose of the survey is to:

  • understand the feasibility of a Knowledge Hub on elder abuse
  • understand how EAAA can support and work with stakeholders to create a greater impact on preventing elder abuse
  • prioritise the function and features of the Knowledge Hub.
